Colfax Area Chamber of Commerce
The Colfax Area Chamber of Commerce is organized to foster economic growth and
to advance the commercial, industrial and civic well being of the community
through a strong, expanding business base.
Colfax Garden Club
Founded and Federated in 1948, the Colfax Garden Club is a non-profit and
educational organization.
The club is a member of the National Garden Clubs, Inc: Pacific Region:
California Garden Clubs, Inc: and the golden Foothills District.
The Clubs objectives:
•To support, promote and cultivate interest in gardening
•To educate and share awareness of foothill gardening
•To participate in civic beautification and other community projects
•To promote and work with school and youth gardening programs
•To help protect California's native trees, plants, and wildlife.
Club Meetings are held the second Friday of every month, 9:30 am, September
through June at the Sierra Vista Community Center, 55 School Street, Colfax.

Colfax Area Historical Society, Inc.
Founded in 1985, the Colfax Area Historical Society define their purpose to
include:
• Preservation of the local history by compiling stories about the people and
their buildings
• Hold meetings featuring speakers on local history topics
• Share and preserve life stories of early residents
• Establishment of a Historical Museum in Colfax

Meetings are held on a quarterly basis, 4th Thursday (February, April, July and
October) in the Biachini Room, Sierra Vista community Center, 55 School Street,
Colfax, CA 95713

Friends of the Library
The goal of the Friends of the Library is support the Colfax area library.
The group meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 11 am at the Colfax Library,
located at the corner of Church and Main, downtown Colfax.
Fundraising activities include book sales at the Colfax Farmers' Market, held
each Wednesday throughout the summer, to raise money for supplies and books at
the library.
A variety show is planned for September to raise funds to build a new Colfax
Library to meet the area's needs.

Sierra Vista Center

Colfax Pride, Inc.
Colfax Pride Inc. is a local, grassroots organization created and consisting of
all volunteers. Its goal is to maintain the local traditions and events of
Colfax, California, for the greater good of the families and youth of our local
community. With that in mind, Colfax Pride Inc. raises funds and promotes pride
and goodwill to keep our community healthy and happy.

Kiwanis Club of Greater Colfax
Founded in 1915, Kiwanis International is a thriving organization of service-and
community- minded individuals who support children and young adults around the
world. They are unified in their belief that children and their community
benefit from the efforts of a proficient group of caring and involved
volunteers.
Service projects include "Young Children: Priority One" placing continual focus
on the needs of children. Youth programs include K-Kids at the elementary level,
Key Club in the high schools, and Circle K at the college level. In Colfax
they are the co-sponsors, with Colfax Pride, in providing the 4th of July event.
Kiwanis Club meets the 2nd and 4th Thursday at 6 pm at the Pizza Factory,
located at 555 South Auburn Street.
Veterans of Foreign Wars
The Colfax Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2003 and Ladies Auxiliary will be
honoring our military personnel lost while serving in Afghanistan and/or Iraq,
as well as recognizing service members who were prisoners of war or missing in
action in all wars or military actions. The ceremony will be held on
Saturday, September 23, at the Baptist Church, 24850 Ben Taylor Road, Colfax,
across from the Elementary School, at 11:00am. The VFW is asking for you
to please provide the names of any family member, friend, or acquaintance who
sacrificed their lives for our country while serving in Afghanistan and/or Iraq.

Hannigan at 530-346-7951. All are invited to help us honor these heroes.

Gold Country Lioness Club
The club certification was awarded in 1982. The theme of the organization is
"caring about people in the Colfax area."
The Gold County Lioness Club is a service organization sponsored by the Colfax
Lions Club. It is an active group of women and men in Colfax, committed to
serving the local community.
Meetings are held at the Mink Creek clubhouse or at a member's home. They meet
the first Monday of each month at 5 pm for supper.
Community service includes:
