Economic Development Commission:
- Vision:
To create
an economically diverse and viable
Community that emphasizes the Development
of the I-80 corridor in such a way
that compliments the Downtown. To
promote planned development where
appropriate. To increase the revenue
and stability of the City while
improving the quality of life and
retaining the rural atmosphere of
the Community. Commission Membership
The Economic Development Commission
consists of seven members of the
Business Community and are appointed
by the City Council. The terms of
the Commissioners are four years. The
Economic development Commission
is not meeting at this time.*

Mr. Gabe Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong and his four-member crew are
responsible for public facility maintenance including streets, parks, building
and wastewater treatment plant.

Department:
Vision and Function:
The Building Department's obligation
is to ensure that the design, construction,
and use of all buildings and structures
adhere to City standards. The Building
Department issues permits for commercial,
industrial, and residential projects,
performs plan checks, and inspections.
Before beginning your project please
consult our Building Department
to make sure the project has the
proper permits and conforms to applicable
codes and zoning ordinances. Please
make sure your project is ready
for its inspection before you call
it in, 24 hours in advance.
Mr. Gabe Armstrong is the Building Official. He is capable of dealing
with a large variety of projects
including remodels or new construction
for residential, commercial and
industrial purposes. Office

- 5:00. Thursday, 8:00 - 6:00. Friday,

Building
Permits: Building permits
are required whenever a structure
is erected, constructed, enlarged,
altered, repaired, moved, improved,
removed, converted or demolished.
Permits are required by state law
to ensure the codes, laws, and ordinances
adopted by the City of Colfax are
observed. The Building and Planning
plan check deposits are collected
at the time the plans and documents
for the structure are submitted
for plan check.
Design Criteria for this Area: Seismic
Category D;
Basic
Wind Speed 85 mph,
Exposure B; Snow
load 29 lbs
Every permit
issued by the building official
under provisions of the code shall
expire by limitations from the date
of such permit, or if the building
or work authorized by such permit
is suspended or abandoned at any
time after the work is commenced
for a period of 180 days. Before
the work can be recommenced, a new
permit shall be first obtained to
do so, and the fee therefore shall
be one half the amount required
for a new permit for such work,
provided no changes have been made
or will be made in the original
plans an specifications for such
work, and provided further that
such suspension or abandonment has
not exceeded on year. In order to
renew action on a permit after expiration,
the permit applicant shall pay a
new full permit fee.
